STIXY????

Ever heard about stixy? Never right? Sixty is other tools that we can use to keep all the document, photos and event notes to share with our friends and classmate.

I want to briefly share with all of you my experience using stixy. I have been exposing to stixy when i taking DATABASE MARKETING subject whereby our lecturer was helping her master’s student in doing research about the usage of stixy.

For me stixy is very interesting because we can do a lot of thing is the website such as upload our assignment so if we have to do presentation in class and we just forgot to bring the thumb drives we just open stixy and get our presentation slide there. Sixty also allow us to upload photo to share with other friend and in my case, my friends and I have uploaded all the pictures during we do the assignment. Sixty have the notes features where I share all the latest information to my friends notes come with a lots of colourS choice.

I WANT TO SHARE WITH ALL OF YOU, MY FRIENDS AND I EXPERINCE DURING USING THE STIXY

Use STIXY as our method to share information to the lecturer and other group members create an amazing satisfaction. Besides, Dr Noorminshah can directly inform our group that she satisfy with our group and reprove if we make a mistake in the group activity.

Firstly, we very enjoy during using STIXY. STIXY is a new tool for our learning and we really enjoy it when using STIXY especially when we doing activities that are given such as upload photos, attach a file, giving some notes to all our group members. Here some of advantages for me when using a STIXY.

Although STIXY is new software for us to upload all the information needed, but we take it as our learning process for our study. We can interact with all group members for each work that we should do and we can Share work to all members easily. Our lecturer can observe what our groups have done for activity that had given. From using STIXY, we can share each other opinion and make decision and can finalize the best answer.

We also very enjoy learning using STIXY because STIXY have colourful note and can upload many photo and document in the board at STIXY. STIXY can attract me in study Database Marketing.Besides, we also have a specific file in this group mini project. Wealso can update this mini project from day to day and can inform Dr. Noorminshah and our group members direct through STIXY. By using this application,we feel relaxed to complete our individual assignment. There is a lot of benefit we can get, other than can save our time it also save our money and time duration to discuss about task.

Definitely, it is one application that very suitable with student. Easy to manage and we can upload the assignment and photo immediately without any problem. We really feel that STIXY is fun medium to share our information.

Here we want give some suggestion which is the space of STIXY should be bigger or make a full view so that we can view all our activities on one page and without have to scroll down to see all the files. We hope STIXY will be better than now and once again STIXY is a very colorful and cheerful learning tools and we think each of the student have one STIXY account for their learning process.

STIXY note should have more colors and have more function. Other than that, we realize that sometime we cannot send an invitation to our group members. We hope you can look further to our suggestion. Now we already finished our group mini project and hopefully in future we can use STIXY again in our learning process.

We learn a lot from this project and make us bound tightly. We really have a good time and thank you again to our lecturer Dr. Noorminshah Binti Iahad. Learning process is too fun and exciting, we have wonderful experience. We also enjoy taking relevant photographs about the organization from our 1st until last face-to-face meeting. This mini project definitely gives us valuable information that related to our course subject.

How to remove Virus from USB Drives

First of all, it is important lesson for us to learn what is effect of some virus on our USB Drives. Without some knowledge about this, we might facing with trouble such USB Drives can't open folder or data cannot be view in appropriate way.

One of the ways by which a virus can infect our PC is through USB/Pen Drives. Common viruses such as ’Ravmon’ , ‘New Folder.exe’, ‘Orkut is banned’ etc are spreading through USB drives. Most anti virus programs are unable to detect them and even if they do, in most cases they are unable to delete the file, only quarantine it.
Here are the things which we can do if want to remove such viruses from USB drives. Listen carefully dude!
1. Whenever you plug a USB drive in your system, a window will appear similar to the one shown below:

2. Don’t click on Ok , just choose ‘Cancel’. Open the Command Prompt by typing ‘cmd‘ in the run box. In the command prompt type the drive letter: and press enter . Now type dir /w/a and press enter.
3. This will display a list of the files in the pen drive. Check whether the following files are there or not:
  • Autorun.inf
  • Ravmon.exe
  • New Folder.exe
  • svchost.exe
  • Heap41a
  • or any other exe file which may be suspicious

3. If any of the above files are there, then probably the USB drive is infected. In command prompt type attrib -r -a -s -h *.* and press enter. This will remove the Read Only, Archive, System and hidden file attribute from all the files. Now just delete the files using the command del filename. example del Ravmon.exe. Delete all the files that are suspicious. To be on a safer side, just scan the USB drive with an anti virus program to check whether it is free of virus or not. Now remove the drive and plug it again. In most of the cases, the real culprit turns out to be the “Autorun.inf” file which mostly gets executed when someone clicks Ok in the dialog window which appears above. Thus the infections can spread.

Security Tip (Must read dude!)

Disable the Autoplay feature of USB drives. If disable the Autoplay feature of USB drives, then there are lesser chances of the virus spreading. A tool which can perform such a function is Tweak UI. Download it from website below install it.

Tweak UI info:

Run the program. Now we can disable the Autoplay feature of the removable drives as shown above. By following the above steps, we can keep our USB drives clean. If there are any other methods which we use, then share it with me through comments.

That's all from me! Simple right? Hope that this info will help you to protect your USB Drive.

See you on next issue dude!

How a virus can spread through an E-Mail Message

Currently, more than 300,00 web sites can infect your computer with unknown virus, worms, trojan horse and other malware. These programs deliver to your computer with different ways of transfer:
  1. open an infected file
  2. runs an infected programs
  3. plugged in a port
  4. connected to the unprotected network

Normally, a common way on how computers may getting easily infected is by e-mail attachments. Here are some steps describing how a virus can spread through an e-mail message.

  • Step 1 - Programmers or creators create a virus that may harm computer through deleting all files. By doing so, they hide the virus in a word processing document and attach the document to an e-mail message.
  • Step2 - They send the e-mail message to thousand of computer users around the world.
  • Step3(A) - Some users feel their computer is affected because of opening that unrecognized e-mail message.
  • Step3(B) - Other users see unrelated e-mail message. Instead they immediately delete the e-mail message and continue their work.

From my point of view, be make sure to check every e-mail message you received before proceed. Peoples who just simply clicks without observe the senders will easily get affected by thousand of virus. Follows some instructions or guideline, so you will getting away from virus trapped.

Hackers? Crackers?

Before I write this post, I don't know what the interesting topic that I have to share with you.I open my book then I close back..I open again and again and I my eyes stop at one page. Yeah! Got it! Hackers and Crackers..:)

Lets check together what is a hacker and what is a crackers? The spelling 'hackers' and 'crackers' is not a same but the sound is quite similar. So, do you think hackers and crackers is a same meaning? Or same character? Some people think of these two groups as being the same, but is it true? Come to join me to know about this two groups in generally..

"Hackers"
  • Are people who create or improve programs and share those programs with fellow hackers.
  • Typically they are not criminals
  • A person who is very skilled at computing in general
  • Obtain advanced knowledge of operating system & programming languages
  • constantly seek further knowledge, freely share what they have discovered and never ever intentionally damage data.
  • Example: programmer, IT professional, computer science experts

"Crackers"
  • Create & share programs designed to gain unauthorized access to computer systems
  • Their motives are malicious and can be destructive and costly
  • Typically they are criminals
  • A person who has a higher than normal degree of technical competency, but who uses his knowledge for malicious ends.

For my view, 'hackers' are not criminal. Why? Because hackers who were just want to explore the whole system. They usually willing to share their knowledge and take hacking as some sort of personal challenge. Furthermore, they are usually very well trained, whether formally or self-taught, in several different types of computing platforms. While 'crackers' used in criminal sense. Why? Because crackers might employ malicious codes to steal the data and try to attack systems and security personnel try to stop them by creating better security protocols.

Under these two broad categories, you can easily make your conclusion about both groups. But for me, "HACKERS is a GOOD and CRACKERS is a BAD!! Lets think together! :)

See You Next Time!

The Top 3 World's Worst Virus!

Computer viruses have become increasingly dangerous and quick-spreading in the last couple of years

  • Here's a look at three of the most dangerous  viruses and worms of all time.

1. Love Hurts

  • LoveLetter is the worm everyone learned to hate in spring 2000. The infection affected millions of computers and caused more damage than any other computer virus to date. The worm sent copies of itself via Microsoft Outlook's address book entries. The mail included an executable file attachment with the e-mail subject line, "ILOVEYOU." The worm had the ability to overwrite several types of files, including .gif and .jpg files. It modified the Internet Explorer start page and changed Registry keys. It also moved other files and hid MP3 files on affected systems. Visit Symantec's Security Response for instructions on how to remove LoveLetter.
  • The Klez worm, which blends different virus traits, was first detected in October 2001. Klez distributes itself like a virus, but sometimes acts like a worm, other times like a Trojan horse. Klez isn't as destructive as other worms, but it is widespread, hard to exterminate--and still active. In fact, so far, no other virus has stayed in circulation quite like Klez. It spreads via open networks and e-mail--regardless of the e-mail program you use. Klez sometimes masquerades as a worm-removal tool. It may corrupt files and disable antivirus products. It pilfers data from a victim's e-mail address book, mixing and matching new senders and recipients for a new round of infection.

3. Malevolent Melissa

  • The Melissa virus swamped corporate networks with a tidal wave of e-mail messages in March 1999. Through Microsoft Outlook, when a user opened an e-mail message containing an infected Word attachment, the virus was sent to the first 50 names in the user's address book. The e-mail fooled many recipients because it bore the name of someone the recipient knew and referred to a document they had allegedly requested.
  •  The Melissa virus was the first virus capable of hopping from one machine to another on its own. And it's another good example of a virus with multiple variants.
As conclusion, we have discussed about the top 3 virus, now, we shall now look at how to stay protected from them. REMEMBER!! you should not that remote tech support is very effective for eliminate virus in your PC.The engineers use the remote technical support technology to remove the virus from your PC
Each virus have their own alternative  to eliminate then form your PC.Its only depend on how you solve the PC problems that related to the virus! Or in a easy way, just installed the original antivirus as told by MADAM SHARIN in the previous class, so that the PC is reliable and safe from any dangerous virus! BEWARE!
